""I'm absolutely chuffed," he said. "I've been trying to make a final for a long time, I put a lot of work in and made some mistakes along the way. It's new territory for me now. I'll go in there and give it socks.""
""I'd have preferred to be slightly higher up but there was no choice," he said."
""If you panic, the race is over. With 400m to go I was looking to get out. You're fighting the whole way, looking for gaps.""
Andrew Coscoran finished fifth in the 1500m semi-final at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, clocking 3:35.65 to secure a place in the world final. He unleashed a powerful finishing burst, moving from eighth with a lap to go into fifth in the home straight. Coscoran positioned himself mid-pack on the inside, conserving energy over the first three laps while searching for gaps in a steadily paced race. Niels Laros won in 3:35.50 ahead of Josh Kerr, Jake Wightman and Timothy Cheruiyot. Coscoran has been training in Manchester under coach Helen Clitheroe since last autumn after several years with Feidhlim Kelly at Dublin Track Club. This is his first world final after previous semi-final appearances.
