ASICS MEGABLAST Review
"The ASICS Megablast is a great unplated trainer best suited to uptempo runs. It has a new FF Turbo Squared midsole with a springy, energetic ride that feels better the faster you go. I was impressed with the Megablast's all-round performance and comfort, however it still feels overpriced considering you can buy trainers which are just as versatile for much less."
""Atatte kudakero" is a Japanese saying that literally translates to "Hit and break." It means go for it, even if you fail. This saying perfectly embodies ASICS' strategy of throwing prototypes at the wall to see which ones stick. In 2025, ASICS has done more in terms of raw new models than any of its competitors. It is arguably the most exciting and innovative running shoe brand right now."
"My first run was an easy run with a section of hill sprints. At the beginning while I was going slowly, the Megablast felt firm and blocky. I didn't feel much energy return. During the hill sprints when I was putting in effort, it felt like a completely different shoe. It felt springy and transitioned fast from the heel to toe. It made it easy to propel myself up the hill. It felt like a firmer, sport version of the Super"
The ASICS Megablast is an unplated, uptempo trainer with an FF Turbo Squared midsole that delivers a springy, energetic ride increasing responsiveness at faster paces. It weighs 230 g (8.1 oz) for a men's US 9, has stack heights of 45 mm/37 mm, and costs $225, making it ineligible for World Athletics races and expensive compared with rivals. Slow, easy-paced running feels firm and blocky with muted energy return, while efforts and hill sprints produce lively transition from heel to toe and strong push-off. The shoe offers all-round comfort and versatility but appears overpriced relative to similarly capable, cheaper trainers.
