"Over the last few weeks I've been evolving libgd-gis, a raster GIS engine written in Ruby on top of libgd."
"What started as a simple GeoJSON renderer now supports: * Cartographic styles * Layered GeoJSON (roads, rivers, parks, rails, points) * A full labeling system (lines, polygons, POIs) * Direct image composition via map.image"
libgd-gis is a raster GIS engine written in Ruby on top of libgd. The engine renders GeoJSON data with layered support for roads, rivers, parks, rails, and point features. Cartographic styles can be applied to control visual appearance of layers and features. A comprehensive labeling system places labels along lines, inside polygons, and for points of interest with appropriate placement logic. The engine supports direct image composition using map.image to build final map tiles or exports. The stack targets simple, programmatic map generation and composition workflows within Ruby environments.
