However, behind the scenes, PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski believed Nawrocki's portrayal as an independent 'citizens' candidate' would resonate with the electorate. As the campaign progressed, Nawrocki improved significantly in his rhetorical skills, raising concerns about his potential threat to the opposition as he became increasingly effective.
Nawrocki's first appearances on the campaign trail did not bode well: His demeanor was stiff, he was rhetorically weak, he read his speeches from a sheet of paper.
Despite a rocky start, political scientist Antoni Dudek noted, "Rhetorically, Nawrocki came on in leaps and bounds. He learns quickly from his mistakes, that’s why he’s so dangerous."
