"At the University of Oklahoma-which put an instructor on leave after the Turning Point chapter accused them of "viewpoint discrimination"-the group's membership has grown from 15 to 2,000 over the past year, reported. Those increases follow other local media reports about new chapters and membership growth at scores of other universities across the country, including the University of Missouri and Vanderbilt. Within eight days of Kirk's death, Turning Point said it received messages from 62,000 students interested in starting a new chapter."

Other universities, including the University of Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Brigham Young, saw new chapters and growth. Within eight days of Charlie Kirk's death, Turning Point received messages from 62,000 students interested in starting or joining chapters. Turning Point USA was founded in 2012 to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote freedom, free markets, and limited government. Kirk was fatally shot on Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
