Ken Paxton was praised for delivering for Texas and for supporting ending the Senate filibuster and a GOP voting restrictions bill. Donald Trump criticized John Cornyn for being late to back his 2024 presidential bid, saying Cornyn was not supportive when times were tough. Paxton responded by attacking Cornyn, accusing him of ignoring the rule of law, the Constitution, and the principle of innocent until proven guilty. Paxton also referenced alleged “bogus witch hunts” involving the Biden DOJ and asked Cornyn to comment. The text also notes Paxton’s long period under indictment and his political success, attributing part of his survival to a gerrymandered Texas legislature.
