As Christians globally prepare to celebrate Easter together this weekend, a deep chasm exists between Christian Palestinians and many Western Christians, particularly in the U.S. since October 2023. The lack of vocal opposition from Western Christians regarding Israel's actions has widened this divide, significantly shaped by the Christian Zionist movement's influence, especially in the Trump administration. Many Americans, including evangelicals and Catholics, view Israel's statehood through a biblical lens, entrenching a narrative influenced by colonialism, further alienating Palestinian Christians from their brethren.
This gap is even more striking in the United States with the presence of the Christian Zionist movement, and especially its influence in the Trump administration.
The foundational ideas upon which Christian Zionism is built are rooted in the Western colonial culture of white supremacy that distorts the understanding of biblical texts.
