Erika Kirk asserted that in a Biblical marriage the husband should go out into the world to build, battle and provide while the wife welcomes him home as guardian of the household. She acknowledged occasional exceptions like a stay-at-home father, recalling her own father's brief role, but cited her parents' divorce to argue marriages are generally stronger with a male provider. A week after Charlie Kirk was gunned down, she was announced as CEO and chair of Turning Point USA; the board said it unanimously elected her and that Charlie had previously expressed this wish. She vowed her husband's voice will continue and told his killer, "You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife," raising questions about how she will reconcile her prior messaging with her new leadership role.
