Journey's Jonathan Cain Honors Charlie Kirk with Tribute Song "No One Else"
"I wanted to honor [Charlie's] movement. I wanted to contribute to what I believe he stood for. And that was righteousness, truth and the gospel. And without being a pastor, I had to stop and think, not since Billy Graham has anybody rocked the world like Charlie, when it comes to just pure amount of how many schools he went to and how ferocious and fearless [he was]."
""We need an appreciation song for what he did," Jonathan explained. "And when they described him as irreplaceable, the song I was writing, which is entitled 'No One Else' - no one else could wear the mantle. The calling on his life was so strong. God used him in such a powerful, powerful way in so many layers of different discussions that young people finally got the chance to discuss. There was a one-sided thing, and he saw how one-sided it was. And I admired his courage.""
Jonathan Cain posted a preview of a solo single titled 'No One Else' written in honor of Charlie Kirk. Cain described wanting to honor Kirk's movement and contribute to what he believed Kirk stood for: righteousness, truth and the gospel. Cain compared Kirk's reach to that of Billy Graham, praised his fearlessness and willingness to challenge perceived one-sided viewpoints, and said Kirk opened young people's eyes. Cain framed the song as an appreciation for Kirk's irreplaceable calling and influence and emphasized that God used him powerfully across many discussions.
