Livermore city attorney retire after 21 years in town
Briefly

Livermore City Attorney Jason Alcala announced his retirement after more than twenty years in the position, during which he oversaw pivotal projects and led the legal team through crises. Alcala, who served since 2014, expressed gratitude for collaborating with committed council members and the community. His tenure saw the city's transformation, with a population increase and major developments. Mayor John Marchand praised his contributions and commitment, while city officials began the search for his replacement before his last day on August 22.
"It has been a privilege serving the Livermore community," Alcala said in a statement Friday. "I am grateful for the opportunity to work with extraordinary council members, staff, and community members."
"I believe I was the right attorney at the right time to help Livermore," Alcala said.
"His tireless work has helped the City succeed where others might falter," Mayor John Marchand said in a statement.
Alcala helped oversee major city projects, such as the redevelopment of Livermore's downtown and the Bankhead Theater reinvestment.
