""Work-from-anywhere jobs continue to be incredibly popular targets for job seekers, but remain relatively rare in terms of availability," Keith Spencer, career expert at FlexJobs, told me in an interview. "While the number of true location-independent roles is growing, they still make up less than 5% of the overall remote job market, which makes these in-demand positions highly competitive.""
""The work-from-anywhere market has become more concentrated, with a smaller group of employers consistently offering true work-from-anywhere opportunities," says Spencer. "With this year's report, the goal was to help job seekers cut through the noise and focus on where these roles are continually being created, as well as the skills and job functions most likely to support location-independent work moving forward.""
FlexJobs has tracked employer adoption of true location-independent roles since 2019 and finds demand remains very high while availability stays low. True work-from-anywhere positions account for under 5% of the overall remote job market, creating intense competition for candidates. The market has become more concentrated, with a smaller set of employers consistently offering these roles. FlexJobs narrowed its focus from a wider ranking list to a top-ten approach and emphasized deeper insights into the career categories, job titles, skills, and functions most likely to enable location-independent work.
