Meta is rolling out its mega-layoffs around the clock

Meta plans to cut about 10% of its workforce, eliminating around 8,000 roles, with layoff notifications sent in three waves at 4 a.m. local time across different regions. Managerial positions will be reduced to create flatter organizational structures, enabling smaller pods or cohorts with faster movement and more ownership. More than 7,000 people will be moved to new initiatives that were previously difficult to prioritize. Leaders across the company will announce organizational changes alongside the layoffs. Some Reality Labs teams have already reorganized into smaller pods. Meta leaders also indicated additional job cuts beyond Wednesday are not ruled out, while employee morale has declined and many staff are waiting in uncertainty.
