People say I come across as incredibly boring!' How to find love on the dating apps whatever the obstacles
"Using dating apps to find love is commonplace these days and yet, for many singles, it has become a double-edged sword. The perks of having a never-ending supply of potential matches at your fingertips are obvious but the appeal of connecting and meeting with strangers is time-limited. It can be especially frustrating to feel as if you're stuck at the swiping stage."
"No wonder Meta this week announced that it is bringing an AI assistant to Facebook Dating, as well as Meet Cute, a new surprise match feature designed to help users avoid swipe fatigue. But it doesn't have to be this way. According to Pew Research Center, around 10% of heterosexual people and 24% of LGBTQ+ people do meet their long-term partner through a dating site or app and some seem to do it without dedicating huge amounts of time to fruitless swiping."
Dating apps provide abundant potential matches but frequently lead to prolonged swiping and frustration. Average American users may spend about eight months and swipe roughly 3,960 profiles before finding a partner, while chronic daters can spend years without success. App use has declined, with a near 16% drop among the ten most popular apps, reflecting growing dating-app fatigue. Tech companies are adding AI and surprise-match features to counter fatigue. Meantime, some people meet long-term partners via apps—disproportionately higher among LGBTQ+ users—and some successful matches form quickly when users reduce or delete app use to focus on one connection.
