My Unusual Penis Was Never Corrected at Birth. Now It Poses a Maddening Problem in Bed.
"I have hypospadias (an unformed urethra basically), which causes my penis to bend at a near 90-degree angle when erect. Functionally, it is fine (have to pee sitting down ... whatever). I have, however, struggled with body image issues over this and have never been in a relationship or had sex (as of yet). Any advice for discussing this with a potential partner or positions to try if the day ever comes? -Curved and Curious"
"There's no guarantee, of course, because your particular anatomy, combined with the anatomy of any individual partner, is going to dictate how the two of you fit together. Something like Tetris, but more fleshy and with fewer sharp angles. Generally speaking, penetrative sex is a question of getting tab A into slot B-try as many possibilities as you can think of, and keep track of the ones that feel good."
Hypospadias can cause severe penile curvature that may make traditional penetrative sex difficult or impossible when curvature exceeds about 20 degrees. Certain positions, such as doggy style, can sometimes reduce the negative effects of curvature, but anatomical compatibility between partners ultimately determines what will work. Experimentation with different positions and tracking what feels good is recommended. Solo experimentation with a male masturbator-style toy can help learn angles and sensations. Being matter-of-fact and direct when discussing the condition with potential partners tends to elicit better responses. Nonpenetrative sexual activities and medical consultation about corrective options are additional paths to consider.
