Millie Bobby Brown Becoming A Parent Has The Internet In A Frenzy
Briefly

Millie and Jake, aged 21 and 23, married last year and live in Georgia with over 60 animals. They announced on Aug. 22 that they welcomed a baby girl through adoption and requested peace and privacy. Millie previously said starting a family is very important while also pursuing acting and producing. Online reactions ranged from jokes about timing to criticism over how they became parents. A family connection to adoption is invoked to counter negativity and defend adoptive parenting. National Council for Adoption data report a 24% decline in foster-care adoptions since 2019 and 77,000 children waiting for adoption in 2023.
Millie expressed her desire for a family earlier this year. During a March 10 episode of the Smartless podcast, Millie said, "Jake knows how important it is to me. Of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it's so important to start a family for me, personally. It's a huge thing."
There are other corners of the internet that seem to have a gripe with the circumstances of Millie and Bobby's announcement, and I have a bone to pick with them. But, this recent negativity has a different air to it, perhaps because it involves the criticism and how they became new parents, and since I come from a family of adoption, I want to throw in my two cents - hopefully hard enough to leave an imprint of Abraham Lincoln's face on somebody's forehead.
