Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards was purchased by the Saratoga Cemetery District for $20 million, expanding its holdings in the area. The property, located off State Route 9, was previously listed at $27.5 million. The district is also managing a nearby cemetery that serves residents of Saratoga and Monte Sereno. Historically, the vineyard dates back to 1901, initiated by brothers Pierre and Eloi Pourroy. The current owners, Michael and Kellie Ballard, have been involved in a lawsuit regarding an RV on the property, where the vineyard's manager resides.
The 57.9-acre property at 23600 Congress Springs Rd. was bought for $20 million, previously listed at $27.5 million, expanding the Saratoga Cemetery District's holdings.
In 1901, brothers Pierre and Eloi Pourroy planted the first vineyards on a portion of the Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards property, completing a large family home in 1923.
In 2022, the Ballards sued Santa Clara County over a demand to remove an RV, which they claim houses the vineyard's manager, Marcelino Martinez.
The Saratoga Cemetery District manages the 12.5-acre Madronia Cemetery, which provides burial grounds for property owners in Saratoga and Monte Sereno.
