The ranking used factors including green spaces, travel links, schools, proportion of managerial and professional jobs, qualification levels and residents' health. Towns within 90 minutes of London dominate the list. Harpenden (30 minutes to St Pancras) offers village charm, a superb range of restaurants, wine bars and leisure facilities, highly rated schools and 60% of residents with bachelor's-level qualifications; average property price around £950,000. Cobham (just over an hour from London) has a warm, generational feel and average prices near £1.4m. Beaconsfield (under 30 minutes to Marylebone) features an excellent high street and great schools.
