Royal Docks plans would add floating parkland and residential boat berths
"The plans would affect an area known as Royal Victoria Dock West, which is the end closest to London City Hall and the Cable Car. If carried out, the two biggest changes will be a range of floating walkways reaching into the dock, lined with water plants. The other change will be the introduction of walkways on the south side of the dock for long-term residential boat moorings."
"They also plan a wellness pontoon that looks generic enough that, if the wellness centre fails, it can be quickly turned into a cafe. The team will have a table in the foyer of Britannia Village Hall on 25 and 26 Feb, 2 and 4 March 3-6 pm, where people can review some large project information boards and talk about the Vision. It'll be some time before anything happens, with construction, if approved, not expected to start until 2028-29."
Royal Victoria Dock West will be transformed with a large floating-park expansion and new long-term moorings. A network of floating walkways reaching into the dock will be lined with water plants, expanding the existing small floating park. Walkways on the south side will provide berths for long-term residential boats. A wellness pontoon will be built with a design that can be converted into a café if the wellness facility closes. Public exhibitions and drop-in sessions will be held at Britannia Village Hall on specified dates and aboard the Thames Sailing Barge Will on 7–8 March. Construction, if approved, is not expected until 2028–29.
