The median sale price in the bistro and stroller-filled district neared $1.4 million."
Nearly 4,600 homes hit the market in September, a nearly 10% increase from last season. Citywide, 20% of homes sold above the asking price in September, with Brooklyn neighborhoods driving much of the demand. Close to 500 Brooklyn homes went into contract in September, up nearly 11% year-over-year; these homes sold about 10 days faster and more than a quarter closed above list price. Six of the ten neighborhoods with the highest rates of over-asking sales were in Brooklyn. Prospect Heights led with 47% of homes selling over ask and a median sale price of $1.31 million; Park Slope followed at 44%.
