"A 545-foot-high mixed-use building is slated to rise at Domino Site B, sandwiched between 1 South First and the Domino Sugar Refinery on the Williamsburg waterfront. It will complete Two Trees' redevelopment of the 11-acre site, which was rezoned in 2014. The development, which does not yet have an address or a name like its neighbors at 325 Kent and 1 Domino Square, will include more than 1,200 units - 315 of which will be income restricted and rent stabilized and earmarked as affordable."
"But after constructing other buildings and renovating the 19th century factory, Two Trees had learned some lessons, and made some tweaks, said spokesperson Dave Lombino. "Part of our intention from the beginning was to make sure the whole site was integrated into the community and didn't feel like a separate campus," Lombino said. "With that in mind, we've used a different architect on each building and we've done little kind of clean-up ULURPs for each site to adjust the design, to make it make sense.""
Work has begun on the final parcel at the former Domino Sugar Refinery site, marking the nearing completion of the redevelopment. A 545-foot mixed-use building will occupy Domino Site B, located between 1 South First and the refinery on the Williamsburg waterfront. The project will provide more than 1,200 residential units, with 315 income-restricted, rent-stabilized units and an additional 105 affordable units to be built off-site. A recent rezoning adjustment updated the original 2014 design by removing a planned skybridge, shortening the podium, increasing the tower height, and applying different architects and ULURP adjustments to better integrate the site with the surrounding community. The podium was shortened partly because the School Construction Authority declined the originally planned elementary school.
