"I didn't have a good few months because it was an injury that I could have returned much sooner from," Romero told reporters in Montevideo.
"I'm always grateful that the national team's medical team was able to get me out of that bad moment and get me back on the field, which is what I like to do."
AS journalist Eduardo Burgos went as far as saying that Romero is "deeply upset" by how Tottenham have handled the injury and that "trouble is brewing".
Speculation about transfer interest from Real Madrid is starting to build, as they haven't recruited a centre-back since 2022.
