Franco Mastantuono has signed with Real Madrid, celebrating his 18th birthday. The Argentine forward was previously pursued by PSG but chose Madrid after a phone call from manager Xabi Alonso. The club agreed to his €45 million release clause, potentially increasing the total fee to over €63 million. Mastantuono expressed his excitement, stating it is a dream come true to join the world's biggest club and promised to give his all for the team. He acknowledged Alonso's influence in his decision to join.
"It's a dream come true as a footballer and as a person, to join a club like Real Madrid, the biggest in the world," Mastantuono said at his unveiling at Madrid's training complex. "I promise I will give my life to this jersey, it's the dream I have always had."
"[Alonso] contacted me. It was very important for me that the coach showed that confidence in me," Mastantuono said. "Obviously it was a private conversation, but it influenced me a lot. It gave me a lot of confidence, and the way he did it, it meant a lot."
