Woman rescued off N.J. coast after being stranded in water for 12 hours
Briefly

A woman was rescued after drifting in the water for about 12 hours off Sandy Hook. She and a man went missing while riding a personal watercraft. The man’s friend reported them missing, prompting a search operation. The pair were separated when their jet ski malfunctioned. A good Samaritan found the jet ski, leading authorities to locate the woman, who was conscious but had been floating since 8 p.m. The man was found on a nearby beach shortly after. Both were taken to Staten Island University Hospital for medical attention.
Wearing life jackets and having a float plan directly saved their lives. These two people are incredibly fortunate to be alive," Krass said in the news release.
The quick coordination and dedication of all involved were crucial in locating and rescuing these people after a long night in the water.
