ACIP reversed a proposed change and kept the recommendation that all children receive the hepatitis B vaccine at birth. The panel also reversed a prior decision and voted that the Vaccines for Children program should not cover the combined MMRV shot, and removed MMRV for children under age four from the vaccine schedule. The committee debated delaying the first hepatitis B dose but postponed the vote and deferred action. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. replaced the panel with new appointees, some with histories of criticizing vaccines. The chair cited inexperience and confusing wording that required redoing a vote.
