Medical necessity must always drive the decision to prescribe controlled substances like Adderall and other stimulants, Missakian added. "Ruthia He, founder and CEO of healthcare company Done, and David Brody, clinical president of Done, were each convicted of four counts of distributing controlled substances, one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of California. He was also convicted of conpiracy to obstruct justice."
Two California-based executives, Ruthia He and David Brody, were convicted on multiple federal charges for illegally distributing Adderall and other stimulants through the telehealth company Done. The convictions include four counts of distributing controlled substances, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud, and He’s additional conspiracy to obstruct justice. Prosecutors said Done facilitated more than 40 million Adderall and stimulant pills dispensed via monthly subscriptions. He and Brody submitted fraudulent insurance claims that misstated urine drug screenings, prior trials of non-stimulant drugs, and ADHD diagnoses using DSM-5, producing about $14 million in insurer payouts.
