Millions of children at risk as global vaccine rates fall, study finds
Briefly

A Lancet study found that millions of children globally are at increased risk of serious diseases due to stagnation or reversal in vaccination rates, exacerbated by health inequalities and Covid-19 misinformation. While significant strides have been made in vaccination over the past 50 years, the past decade has seen a troubling decline, particularly in measles vaccinations in 100 of 204 countries. Notably, immunization coverage has fallen in multiple high-income countries, leaving many children vulnerable and emphasizing the urgent need for targeted interventions to reverse these dangerous trends.
Despite monumental vaccine rollout efforts leading to the saving of 154 million children, progress on immunization has stalled or even reversed, putting millions at risk.
Persistent health inequalities, the Covid pandemic disruption, and rising vaccine misinformation have collectively made considerable contributions to faltering immunization rates.
