"We are going to continue to fight the illegal sending of abortion pills into Louisiana,"
"the ends of justice...require that Remy Coeytaux be brought to this State."
"California protects patients and their doctors. We will not be complicit in efforts to strip away their privacy, autonomy, or dignity. Stay tuned."
Louisiana prosecutors issued a criminal arrest warrant for Dr. Remy Coeytaux of Healdsburg, California, charging felony criminal abortion by means of abortion-inducing drugs after alleging he mailed abortion pills to a Louisiana woman who ordered medication online in 2023. Investigators used postal tracking data to link the package to Coeytaux and prosecutors requested that he be brought to St. Tammany Parish, including a packet asking the governor to seek extradition. California officials report no formal extradition request received and cite Executive Order N-12-22 to protect state-held data and decline extradition for lawful reproductive care.
