GP surgery kept in special measures as it 'can't give consistently high-quality care'
Briefly

Oak Road Surgery has been rated 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission for the second time, following inspections in March and April. The practice was put into special measures in January. The leadership did not demonstrate the capacity to provide consistent high-quality care. Key issues included inadequate systems for referrals, risk management, and prescription storage. Patients' referrals often lacked necessary information, potentially delaying their access to appropriate care. Despite some improvements, significant operational shortcomings remain unaddressed.
CQC inspectors found the leadership of the practice unable to demonstrate their "capability to deliver consistently high-quality care and treatment".
Inspectors found two-week wait referrals contained "limited information to assist clinicians in secondary care (hospital)".
The practice did not have a safe system in place for the storage of prescriptions.
The report stated that the practice "did not have a system in place to review routine referrals to check whether patients' conditions had deteriorated or improved."
