MetroED was awarded Partner of the Year at the 35th annual CalWORKs Achievement Awards for its effective support in helping CalWORKs participants achieve self-sufficiency. The organization serves 65 clients per year through its CalWORKs program, facilitating education, training, and support. MetroED was recognized for its outstanding services among 25 competing organizations. This year, they also initiated a food distribution partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, serving numerous individuals and families, alongside initiatives like a career closet and holiday gift support for children in the program.
"CalWORKs liaison services is meant to support the transition of CalWORKs participants from cash aid to self-sufficiency by providing education, training, direct services, support and guidance through the adult education system," said county management analyst Jennifer Holmboe in a release.
MetroED serves an average of 65 CalWORKs clients per year. Its CalWORKs team was selected for the award from a pool of about 25 other organizations.
Beyond its core CalWORKS work, MetroED staff 'supply much-needed and valuable services to our CalWORKs families,' Holmboe said.
