The annual Clinton Global Initiative opened highlighting rising political violence, dismantling of domestic and foreign assistance programs, attacks on science and public health, cuts to education, trade wars, and risks to freedom of speech. The conference restructured into working groups to tackle those issues. A partnership among Clinton Health Access Initiative, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Unitaid, and Wits RHI will provide lenacapavir in 120 low- and middle-income countries for $40 per person per year beginning in 2027. The Gates Foundation announced a similar deal with Hetero Labs. Concerns were expressed that foreign aid cuts could cause millions more HIV cases and deaths in Africa; GOP leaders blocked an additional $400 million cut to PEPFAR in July.
