"Attacked from within": Health workers rage against RFK Jr.
Briefly

CDC employees are publicly demanding that Secretary Kennedy stop spreading inaccurate and misleading claims about vaccines, disease transmission, and public health institutions and that he respond by Sept. 2. Elizabeth Soda said civil servants rarely speak out but no longer feel they can remain silent. Many employees say Kennedy's expressions of support after the Aug. 8 shooting and a site visit were insufficient and that they need affirmation and backing. HHS asserted employee safety is a top priority and warned against politicizing the shooting. Kennedy launched an HHS overhaul proposing 10,000 job cuts; some CDC layoffs are now moving forward after legal challenges.
We are civil servants. We don't tend to speak out a lot. But ... I don't feel like we can afford to be silent anymore.
We need a secretary that will affirm us and support our work.
We don't have that. Instead, we're being attacked from within.
Any attempt to conflate widely supported public health reforms with the violence of a suicidal mass shooter is an attempt to politicize a tragedy.
