""There's probably thousands of people that this person interacted with at Disneyland," Dr. Eric Ball, a pediatrician in Orange County, told SFGATE."
""There were a lot of places where there's a lot of people, and measles is so incredibly contagious that we certainly worry about spread, given those tight-knit areas with lots of people.""
""We are closely following all guidance and recommendations by local health officials to support the well-being of our guests and cast members," Hymel said in a statement."
Health officials confirmed a measles case in California involving a child who visited Disneyland while infectious. An international traveler who arrived at Los Angeles International Airport visited Goofy's Kitchen from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park from 12:30 p.m. to closing on Jan. 28. Community members who may have shared spaces with the traveler were urged to ensure immunity. Physicians warned that crowded theme park settings complicate exposure tracing and increase transmission risk because measles is highly contagious. Park officials said they are following local health guidance. The CDC reported 2,267 U.S. measles cases in 2025, 93% of whom were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination status. Only two cases occurred in California. California reported 96% of kindergartners fully vaccinated in 2024–2025, while the CDC reported 92.5% of kindergartners fully vaccinated nationally; herd immunity requires over 95% vaccination.
