Google announced at its I/O conference that Chrome's password manager will soon offer an automatic password changing feature for weak passwords. When a compromised password is detected during sign-in, users will receive an option to automatically generate a stronger password. Currently, Chrome alerts users about unsafe passwords, but the new feature aims to improve user experience by simplifying the password change process. Google emphasizes maintaining user control over password changes to enhance security while reducing inconvenience.
When Chrome detects a compromised password during sign-in, Google Password Manager prompts the user with an option to fix it automatically.
If we tell you your password is weak, it's really annoying to actually have to change your password. We see automatic password change as a win for safety, as well as usability.
