John Ackerly, formerly in the Bush Administration, recognized the significance of data from multiple perspectives. His experience during the enactment of the Patriot Act highlighted governmental access to citizen data. Over time, societal norms regarding data privacy have evolved, especially with advancements in technology. In 2012, he and his brother, Will, founded Virtru, a data security company aimed at safeguarding all data. Recently, Virtru raised $50 million, reaching a $500 million valuation, and now has 6,700 customers.

This was before the cloud, before Gmail, and before we'd seen major impacts on trust in our society.
The vision was always about securing all data everywhere. Fast forward, and we've hung on fiercely to that mission.
We never maximize headline price. We've always maximized the right deal at the right time.
