These fraudsters engage with victims through social media and forums, often pretending to be fellow victims seeking support. In one notable scheme, they directed victims to a fake profile impersonating the head of the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, claiming they could help recover lost funds. The FBI warns victims that legitimate communication will not occur through these channels, urging them to report the scams through the official IC3 website.
