Technology Education Collaborative (TEC) aims to create an accessible space for learning about technology in the Greater Phoenix area. It was established in partnership with Gateway Community College, housing the Advanced Cyber Systems Lab, which provides necessary equipment for various tech-focused groups. TEC prioritizes the right to repair, privacy, and cybersecurity, expressing concern over companies moving towards convenience over repairability. With a focus on community events like Hardware Happy Hour, TEC encourages collaboration among individuals to foster a deeper understanding of technology.
TEC empowers everyday people to become informed users of today's extraordinary technology, helping them better understand the tech that surrounds them on a daily basis. This includes hosting in-person, hands-on events like Repair Café for community engagement.
One of our big concerns is that many companies have slowly shifted away from repairability to a sense of convenience. We're thankful for the donations from iFixIt that allow people access to necessary tools.
TEC was started to create a space where industry professionals, students, and the community could learn about technology together, collaborating in a dedicated space equipped for hands-on projects.
Our main priorities focus on right to repair, privacy, and cybersecurity, addressing concerns regarding the shift in companies towards less repairable tech and more convenience-oriented products.
