Rep. Dan Goldman leads bipartisan effort to protect federal judges from doxxing and threats
Briefly

Congressman Dan Goldman and Mikie Sherill are advocating for a $10 million allocation under the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act of 2022. This grant program aims to help state and local governments conceal judges' personal data online amidst rising threats against judges, which have more than quadrupled between 2015 and 2021, particularly fueled by former President Trump's divisive rhetoric. The letter highlights urgent security concerns, linking these threats to potential influences on judicial decisions, thus compromising the rule of law. Named after a judge’s son tragically murdered due to doxxing, this act aims to protect judges and their families.
"As Donald Trump has escalated his attacks on federal judges, their safety and security are increasingly at risk. If judges alter their decisions out of fear for the safety of themselves and their families, then we no longer live under the rule of law," Goldman said.
"Time is of the essence in implementing the Anderl Act's protections for our federal judges and their families, as members of the Federal judiciary have been exposed to an increased number of personal threats in connection to their role," the group wrote.
