Meta and Google get data from the app your boss uses to track you

Hundreds of thousands of workplaces use software to monitor employees. A new study found that many workplace monitoring tools share data not only with employers but also with digital advertising platforms and data brokers. The review examined nine workplace monitoring services and found that all shared some information with third parties. Shared data included names, email addresses, and web history. Third-party recipients included major technology and advertising companies such as Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. The findings indicate that every reviewed bossware service shared worker data with outside companies, raising concerns about how far information flows beyond workplace oversight.

It examined nine workplace monitoring (or "bossware") services and found that all of them shared some information with third-party platforms.
