"I saw online people were zooming in on players' phones and stuff like that. It's so unnecessary, an invasion of privacy Jessica Pegula"
"I tried to go somewhere where they wouldn't broadcast it, but obviously they did, she said. So yeah, maybe some conversations can be had, because I feel like at this tournament the only private place we have is the locker room."
The court access corridor at Melbourne Park is a long, spacious walkway linking east and west points and connecting courts, player areas, media facilities and Rod Laver Arena through large automatic doors. After a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Elina Svitolina, Coco Gauff removed a racket, exited into the largely vacant corridor and smashed the racket on the concrete floor, believing a wall hid the ramp. Gauff chose the corridor to vent privately, expecting only a few staff to see, but venue cameras captured the act and broadcasters circulated footage online. Teammates criticized the spread of the footage and called it an invasion of privacy, and Gauff said the locker room remains the only truly private place at the tournament.
