Donald Trump went after one of America's top law firms. Its decision to fight back took just two hours.
Briefly

President Trump recently issued an executive order targeting renowned law firm Susman Godfrey, surprising many. Rather than negotiating, the firm quickly decided to sue the U.S. government to block the order. Alongside three other firms, they resisted the administration, leading to federal judges blocking key elements of the orders. Despite initial client concerns, substantial business loss has not occurred for these firms. For instance, Perkins Coie's major clients, including Amazon and Boeing, remain loyal, indicating resilience among leading law firms amidst Trump's aggressive stance against them.
The partners unanimously agreed the firm would sue the United States government to block the executive order within two hours of reviewing it, the two people said.
While clients were nervous, only one, which it had represented on a pro bono basis, cut ties, the source said.
Forty percent of the firm's revenue is from companies with government contracts, it said in its lawsuit.
Although it lost some work from Honeywell, Perkins Coie's biggest clients, including Amazon and Boeing, are sticking with the firm.
