Day 25 of 16th St. Plaza cleanup: Plazas mostly clean with occasional vending, Capp Street trashed
Briefly

On Saturday morning, the 16th Street BART plazas buzzed with life, featuring vendors, speeches, and locals enjoying the sun. While the northeast plaza appeared mostly clean and lively, the southwest plaza showcased a neglected side with scattered trash and police presence. Side streets varied in condition, with some like Capp Street in poor shape, littered with debris and unpleasant odors. Community dynamics persisted, as evidenced by public engagement amidst urban clutter, highlighting issues of cleanliness and social interaction in the area.
At the southwest plaza around 10:37 am, an officer sat in the mobile command unit, a brown bag on the dashboard.
The northeast plaza is mostly clean. Among a group of people, a man was giving a passionate speech in Spanish facing a camera recorder.
Capp Street was a mess - definitely in the worst condition of the side streets. Trash abounded and the street smelled foul.
Julian Avenue was littered with scraps of plastic and food wrappers. On Wiese Street, a trash can was tipped over next to the barricades.
