Children's Fairyland turns 75 and is celebrating with an exhibit at OMCA
Briefly

Kymberly Miller, the executive director of Children's Fairyland, aimed to diversify programming and celebrate its 75th anniversary when she took over in 2019. However, the onset of COVID-19 in 2020 halted many of her plans. Instead, she collaborated with other local cultural organizations, particularly the Oakland Museum, leading to the development of an exhibit titled "Fairyland @ 75: A Legacy of Magic." The exhibit highlights the park's rich history, emphasizing community and relationships, and features longtime contributors like puppet theater director Randal Metz.
"A big part of this exhibit is the friendship that Kymberly and I have developed...there's such a strong cultural ecology here that immediately people were reaching out to figure out ways of working together."
"We plan exhibitions about three years in advance, but this was not put together three years in advance."
"Fairyland has sort of been this perpetual place where I found inspiration and joy."
