Celebrate 100 years of bonsai at Brooklyn Botanical Garden
Briefly

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is hosting a summer celebration called "Bonsai 100" to honor its century-old bonsai collection, one of the largest outside Japan. From June 14 to October 19, visitors can enjoy new exhibits, tours, workshops, and outdoor installations showcasing the unique art of bonsai. Highlights include a 500-year-old Rocky Mountain juniper and a range of interactive programming, including a manga exhibit telling a bonsai's life story. Culinary experiences and educational workshops enhance visitor engagement with this expressive horticultural practice.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden has been the proud caretaker of this remarkable bonsai collection for 100 years, fostering a practice that is equal parts horticulture, art, design and patience.
We are excited to see even more of these miniature trees-true works of art-displayed this year, including outdoors amid full-sized trees for a stunning comparison.
The Mountain, the Tree, and the Man by graphic novelist Misako Rocks! tells the story of a bonsai's life through playful manga-style panels.
Fall workshops invite visitors to try their hand at the art form themselves.
