Dale Whitnell achieved an incredible feat at the South African Open by scoring two holes-in-one during a single round. Entering the tournament ranked No. 545 and concerned about making the cut, Whitnell shot a remarkable 9-under par 63 in his second round. His performance included seven birdies, two bogeys, one eagle, and two aces on the second and twelfth holes, marking a milestone as he had never achieved a hole-in-one in tournament play before. Whitnell's excitement was palpable, as he described the cheers from spectators and the thrill of the day.
"Birdied the first and then hit a flush 7-iron on the second and didn't realize it went in until down the bottom they sort of cheered," he added. "That was lovely."
"I've never had one in tournament play. To have two in one day is pretty special," he said.
