Leaders from California's tribal gaming community recently announced that sports betting in the state is not expected to materialize until at least 2028. This timeline was shared during a panel at ICE's Tribal Partnerships Seminar in Barcelona, highlighting the cautious approach taken by tribal representatives. The leaders emphasized that the tribes aim to lead any initiatives regarding sports gambling to ensure proper groundwork and public support before any implementation can happen. Despite skepticism from some Californians, the tribes prefer a strategic and deliberate approach over hastily entering new gambling ventures.
Many sports fans instead turn to top crypto sportsbooks and offshore sites to place their bets safely and securely, as well as being provided with a high level of privacy.
James Siva explained that responses show how some Californians remain skeptical about bringing sports gambling to their state. The tribal representatives agreed that while change might happen by 2028, tribes must lead such efforts.
