In Season 2 Episode 3 of The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder escalates his unconventional style by recreating the upbringing of Captain Sully Sullenberger as part of a bizarre personality transfer experiment. The episode begins with a failed attempt to clone a dog's personality before Fielder, dressed as a baby, embarks on a surreal journey through Sully's life. Featuring absurd elements like puppet parents and absurd simulations, the episode delivers jaw-dropping moments that provoke shock and laughter alike, cementing its place among the wildest experiences in Fielder's innovative narrative style.
The episode opens with an interesting, though relatively lightweight, primer as Fielder attempts to perform a personality transfer on a cloned dog. It's ultimately a bit of failure, as even though one clone has a single breakthrough moment, none of the subjects truly take to the original pet's personality.
After studying one of the most famous pilots of recent times - Captain 'Sully' Sullenberger, who's best known for landing a plane in the Hudson River - Fielder decides to see if he can absorb Sully's traits by recreating his upbringing.
From there, it's a surreal nightmare as he speed-runs Sully's life, complete with monstrous puppet parents, breastfeeding simulations, and Fielder straight-up masturbating in the cockpit of a plane.
What the actual fuck?? The first two episodes of The Rehearsal Season 2 have already presented plenty of jaw-dropping moments, but this week's episode ranks amongst the wildest.
