Report: Jabrill Peppers signs with the Steelers
"Peppers began the preseason as a starter, but his role had quickly diminished by the end of it with Jaylinn Hawkins and rookie Craig Woodson overtaking the experienced pair of Peppers and Kyle Dugger. "Going on 9 years in this league. I've had 7 HCs & 6 DCs," Peppers wrote on X after the Patriots released him. "There is no scheme you can place me in where I won't find a way to be effective." Peppers saw an extended amount of playing time in the third preseason game against the Giants, something that is unusual for a player of his caliber."
"Last season was a tumultuous one for Peppers, who played in just six games. He spent time on the commissioner's exempt list before being acquitted by a Boston jury in an assault and battery trial. He missed several games with a hamstring injury. He finished the season with 40 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and a pair of tackles for loss."
Jabrill Peppers agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers less than two weeks after being cut by the Patriots. Peppers spent three seasons in New England and will return to Gillette Stadium on Sept. 21 when Pittsburgh visits. Last season Peppers played just six games, spent time on the commissioner's exempt list before being acquitted in an assault and battery trial, and missed time with a hamstring injury. He finished the season with 40 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and two tackles for loss. Pittsburgh signed him after safety DeShon Elliott suffered a knee injury in Week 1.
