True shape of rainbow revealed to skydivers in magical airborne moment
"Being thousands of feet up in the air sure does give a fresh perspective on things. And for a lucky group of skydivers recently, that included a rainbow, which was revealed in all its full-circular glory as they plummeted earthwards. Footage recorded by Paul Dewey with Sky Langer shows the rainbow as a perfect circle in the air over the British countryside."
"Speaking with local media, instructor Jan Zackl said: "We spent pretty much the whole flight down looking at it. It was very cool and a very special thing to be able to share.""
Skydivers observed a full-circle rainbow while descending thousands of feet over the British countryside. Footage recorded by Paul Dewey with Sky Langer shows the rainbow as a perfect circle in the air. The rainbow appeared in full-circular glory as the group plummeted earthwards, offering a rare complete circular view. Skydivers spent almost the entire descent looking at the phenomenon and described the sight as very cool and a very special thing to be able to share. The event demonstrates how altitude and viewing angle can reveal the full circular form of a rainbow under the right sunlight and droplet conditions.
