"I used a special app that took over Sara's phone camera, an iPhone 13, and the day before the shoot she showed me around her home from the phone, so I could seek out light and vignettes that would be compelling in telling their story. We used a tall standing tripod to hold the phone and I had Sara place it where I wanted it to go."
"It was 7am and photographer Kelli Radwanski was after the morning light; Weir had another child on the way and had hired Radwanski to capture their family life. All the kids were feeling playful, ready to show off their talents, silly faces and prize possessions. As the eldest son wandered into the frame, holding his pot-bellied pig, Radwanski captured the moment while sitting in her office chair in Oregon."
"The little boy's pig is called Ronald, named after one of the Weasleys, of course, Radwanski adds. They're a family of redheads; I believe that is why they chose Ronald. His content little face turned towards the morning light, their red hair matching in hue. It was one of those perfect shots you can never plan for and wouldn't have the same magic if you did."
Sara Weir's five children had just woken and were roaming their Nevada home at 7am while a remote shoot targeted the morning light. Photographer Kelli Radwanski used a special app to take control of Sara's iPhone 13 and scouted light and vignettes via a phone tour the day before. A tall standing tripod held the phone where Radwanski wanted, enabling Sara to position it and move all five children in and out of scenes. The eldest son entered the frame holding his pot-bellied pig Ronald, named after a Weasley, while the children's matching red hair caught the light.
