Pink Man pushing his pink trolley through a field in Thailand: Manit Sriwanichpoom's best photograph
Briefly

The Pink Man series emerged from the artist’s reflections on consumerism and societal change in Thailand, sparked at a vast mall in Bangkok. Noting the contrast between his agricultural roots and the rising values of wealth during his lifetime, the artist sought to explore these themes through the character of Pink Man, who symbolizes consumerist greed. The empty pink trolley serves as a metaphor for the emptiness in constant consumption, questioning the future direction of Thai society amidst these cultural shifts.

In my first Pink Man series, I aimed to highlight emerging values in a shifting society, contrasting our agricultural roots with rampant consumer desire.
